You are a wife, mom, business and non-profit owner as well as a coach. What do you feel is your biggest accomplishment in life and why?
My first honest answer as a person with ADD, and a perfectionist would be, I do not feel I have not accomplished anything. But as I think about it, my biggest accomplishment would be my family, I love my husband and children. That is hard work.
Why did you and your husband decide to become entrepreneurs and start Leonard Service LLC?
Well Denise this is a great story, my husband worked many years, put his heart and soul into a job that did not give him the same respect. After being let go, he decided if he had the opportunity, he would go into business for himself. I had been in business as a daycare owner in my home so I knew what it would entail and I had been to entrepreneur school, I also had skills growing up with my dad selling everything from hogs, chicken, eggs, plup wood, Amway, you name it we sold it, my dad was a worker by day and entrepreneur by night. So, I dreamed at an early age of owning my own business. So, back to my husband, he started working minimum wage at this plant as a forklift operator and begin to see these trucks coming in, he inquired of the drivers and discovered they were the owners. He begins to network, and he SPOKE a vision that he would load his own trucks one day and he did.
What advice would you give to young people who are struggling in life?
That is easy, the same advice I give my kids, hang in there, never give up. Know that YOUR time is coming, don't look at your friends and think you should be where they are or try to be who they are, be yourself, center yourself and keep a prayer life.
What do you want your community to remember about you as your legacy?
I want them to remember that she loved people. If I know you, I try to remember something special that you have said to me so when we meet again, I can ask about that person like your sister or that I am a giver. I am a natural born giver, type O, I can give to anyone, it hurts me when I can't give or help someone. I love people, always have.
