TODAY'S FEATURED PERSON OF INTEREST
I am Denique "Lady D" Isme- Your Master Certified Life Coach & Spiritual Life Coach. I am a warrior for God and would say I am here on earth to do my father?s business! Most people who do know me would say 'I love hard' and I'll agree to know that to be true. I am a lover of people, integrity, honesty, a good message, or word and overall, anything that serves as goodness within the earth. I have a background in youth development and has always stood firm on being the gentle force that helps our youth understand life from their even tender stand points. If there is anything I'd say I am passionate about it would be to remind the people, I love to see things from a renewed mindset at any time adversity plays its part. I always hope to be of truth and understanding anywhere my foot sets and strive to be that iron that sharpens other iron. I am a firm believer that it takes a village to even move us in our adult life. I am big on community and know that without it, I wouldn't be where I am today. So, my family, we are in this together and where every 2 or 3 agree, mighty works are destined, and great things will happen.
I love you on Purpose!
Xoxo,
Lady D.
I was diagnosed with stage 4 appendix cancer in April of 2021. I continue to undergo treatment and honestly, it is not an easy journey. There are times I feel very sick and experience intense side effects from the chemotherapy. One of the significant side effects I experience is neuropathy, a condition which causes weakness, numbness, and pain from nerve damage. It usually occurs in the hands and feet. The frequency of this condition, the fatigue, and having to take precaution and limit being out because I am immunocompromised challenged my nature as a very free spirited, socially engaged individual. I started to notice feelings of worthlessness and depression settling in because I had to learn to be ok with not only physical discomfort, but emotional as well. I?m so glad for my support system rallying around me. Nevertheless, they could not always be around. It was during this time I looked at myself in the mirror and The Lord brought to my remembrance Jeremiah 29:11 (I know the plans I have for you not to harm you but give you hope and a future). I then began to rock back and forth to a song that came on. Although it was extremely painful, it gave me joy inside and put a smile on my face. Moving my body became an expression of gratitude and victory. I realized I hadn?t laughed in a bit and the smile I?ve always had was almost gone because of grief. Music and movement seemed to activate my Spirit again. I loved how it made me feel so I started sharing it with others.
How Do You Keep Yourself Motivated during your Healing Journey?
God baby lol. He keeps my mind in perfect peace, but I must put in the work to keep my mind focused and discard distractions. It isn?t easy at times because chemotherapy drains you, but I give myself grace. I also say affirmations every morning. Speaking healing, breakthrough, and success over my life makes so much difference in how I think. I am also part of a part of a community that reminds me to love myself. I love God and others and there are times I?ve left myself out of the equation trying to spread that love around. Intentionally showing myself love has become a major motivator towards my healing as well. I cannot leave out the fact that when you are loving yourself and cheering yourself along, it?s important to have a strong support system to rally around you. There are times in life where you will struggle to be your own cheerleader and their encouragement will be so valuable.
What Do You Want People to Remember About You?
I would love people to be encouraged by my resilience. I want them to see a woman powering through a very rough season with grace and tenacity. I want them to see me as an example that they can smile through storms as well. A smile a day keeps depression away.
Why Is Your Relationship with God So Important to You?
God is everything for me. During the many times people failed me and talked about me, God?s love carried me through it all. The Lord cleaned me up and loved on me when I was unlovable. He poured His love into me and gave me a new life.
2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come] The old has gone, the new is here!
