How To Overcome Fear Tactics and Walk in Victory

Have you ever asked yourself that question before? I hear the Steve Urkel character in my mind from the popular television sitcom "Family Matters". In his high-pitched tone voice, the cute yet annoying Steve utters these words when he finds himself in a conundrum There have been many times in my life where I felt as if I was replaying a scenario in my head where I've made choices that had taken a turn for the worst! I would see myself with a questioning look say to myself out loud "Did I Do That?" Unbelief of what just happened, I would feel as if I was having an out-of-body experience. "Did I really just do that and Why did I do that?"
What is the underlying reason for me making such a bad decision or committing an "out of bounds" atrocity act? Replaying the scenario over and over in my head reinforces and magnifies the event and feelings of guilt and anxiety increase rapidly. Desperately looking for a way of relief, I search for someone or something to help me understand my choice of action(s) or lack thereof taking any action(s).
If we want to confront the issues or difficult situations we find ourselves entangled in, we must be willing to start at the root of the problem. More often than not, the issue is within us and how we handle that four-letter word that immobolizes and destroys people's lives. FEAR! Yes, Fear can paralyze you. It can stop you from taking the steps God has designed for you to make in your life journey.
Fear is defined as an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat. I have heard others apply a simple acronym phrase to the word FEAR by using each letter of the word to form "False Evidence Appearing Real". This is exactly what stops people from beginning that new job, career, or starting a business. Fear can stop a person from getting married to "the one" or lead them to marry the wrong person for them. It is a common tactic the enemy uses to attack, distract and steal our God-given purpose on this earth. I must be honest and tell you that I have succumed to fear tactics from the enemy, other people and sometimes it was self-inflicted sabotage. I have made foolish decisions or indecisions based on "false evidence appearing real". What I have learned in this journey in life as I continue to grow in my Christian walk and work to form a deeper relationship with God, through the word of God fear has no dominion over me or any child of God.
As we grow in our life journey and study God's word, we must learn to possess our rights as citizens of God's kingdom. We may make mistakes in life and make wrong decisions, but we still possess the tools and weapons to combat fear when it tries to grip us. When we ask ourselves "Did I do that?", don't dwell on the mishap or mistake we made because often it will lead us to question ourselves, doubting our abilities or lead us to self-sabotaging ourselves, careers, marriage, or future in this earthly life journey. Our behavior amid fear tactics can lead us to act "out of character" and will mare people's impression or opinion of us.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
I have learned building up an arsenal of scriptures to combat every area of attack is one that has proven to work against the enemy. Jesus is the perfect example for using this weapon as the enemy tried to deceive and manipulate the word of God against Jesus (God in the flesh) while in the wilderness. Read Luke 4:1-13
Pick yourself up and try again! Whenever I fell into the area of fear, I would often beat myself up or feel guilty and ashamed. This too is another tactic of the enemy of our soul. Well, I am telling you today. DO NOT STAY IN THIS STATE! God has given you the power. Exercise your birthright as a child of God. We are instructed to come boldly unto the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). We are saved by grace, and we are instructed that we are conquerors and nothing can separate us from the love of God. (Romans 8:37-39) . God's word gives us our blueprint for life and gives us instructions to live out our lives here on earth. We have the living and breathing word of God which is God. I thank God for showing me as I grow in the knowledge of Him and his word, I grow in faith, spiritual maturity, grace, and what is most important is growing in love. Am I perfect? No Way! I am (we are) perfectly imperfect! Do I mess up? Absolutely! And I am still a child of God?Absolutely! I am (we are) God's workmanship Ephesians 2:10 I have questioned my walk with God. Only you can do introspection on your walk. What fears, or insecurities are holding you back? Who do you run to when you mess up? Do you talk about your problems with people or with God? Do you want to surrender to the will of God or the will of your flesh? Everyone has to make their choice because God loves us so much that He has given us the power to choose. Please choose wisely.
